Ragefire Chasm is a dungeon in the volcanic caverns beneath Orgrimmar, where the Searing Blade cult hides alongside troggs and the demon Taragaman the Hungerer.

It is the lowest-level Classic dungeon in World of Warcraft: Forever and, for most Horde characters, the first dungeon they will run. It is short, has four bosses, and takes roughly 20–30 minutes to clear with a group that knows the way.

Information on this page comes from the Forever beta (client builds 1.60.1.69913 to 1.60.1.70009, September 2026). Stats, drops and quest rewards can still change before launch on 4 November 2026.

Overview

[edit | edit source]
Location Cleft of Shadow, Orgrimmar (Kalimdor)
Recommended level 13–18
Group Finder level 13
Minimum level to enter 10
Group size 5 players (was 10 in Classic)
Bosses 4
Quests 6 (all Horde)
Lockout None seen on the beta so far
Alliance counterpart The Hall of Thanes

The level figures come from different places and mean different things. 13–18 is the band that community sites have settled on for Forever, 13 is the level the Group Finder lists it at, and 10 is the lowest level the entrance lets you in at. Blizzard's official level table from September 2026 covered only the nine new Forever dungeons, so there is no official Blizzard figure for Ragefire Chasm yet.

History

[edit | edit source]
Lore from Classic – Forever may differ.

The chasm is a network of lava-filled caves running under Orgrimmar. Two separate threats have moved in.

The first is a clan of troggs known as the Ragefire, who climbed up out of the deep tunnels below. Magatha Grimtotem of the tauren tried to make peace with them, but the troggs answered only with violence, and they are now seen as a danger that could overrun the Horde if left alone.

The second is the Searing Blade, a sect loyal to the demonic Shadow Council and an offshoot of the Burning Blade cult. They are led by three figures: Taragaman the Hungerer, a felguard; Jergosh the Invoker, an orc warlock; and Bazzalan, a satyr. From their hiding place under the city they plot to tear down everything the orcs have built in Durotar.

Thrall allowed warlocks to live in the Cleft of Shadow, and it is widely believed that he knows about the cult below it. The popular theory is that he has let it be on purpose, hoping its members will lead him to the Shadow Council itself. His Hidden Enemies quest chain has adventurers look into Neeru Fireblade, the warlock leader in the Cleft, before sending them into the chasm after the cult's leaders.

Getting there

[edit | edit source]

The entrance is in the Cleft of Shadow, the sunken district in the middle of Orgrimmar, at roughly 52–53, 49 on the Orgrimmar map. The portal sits next to Neeru Fireblade's tent. The nearest flight path is Orgrimmar itself.

Because the entrance is inside a Horde capital, Alliance characters can technically enter but would need to fight or sneak their way through the city to reach it, and none of the dungeon's quests are available to them. Alliance players at this level usually run The Hall of Thanes beneath Ironforge instead.

Changes from Classic

[edit | edit source]
  • Group size reduced from 10 to 5 players.
  • Oggleflint now has a loot table of three new items: Barbaric Crossbow, Trogg Scepter and Bone Knuckles.
  • Bazzalan now drops three new items: Searing Dagger, Chasm Walkers and Satyrskin Cloak.
  • All boss drops are item level 18, require level 13, and bind when picked up.
  • Returning the Lost Satchel has a new mail option, Garrison Cuffs, alongside the Classic cloth and leather bracers.
  • Quest experience seen in beta play is roughly three times the Classic values (see Quests).
  • No lockout has been seen on the beta so far; groups have been running it back to back.
  • Clearing Ragefire Chasm (or The Hall of Thanes) counts towards the first dungeon tier of the Legacy system.

Bosses

[edit | edit source]

Oggleflint

[edit | edit source]

A trogg chieftain found along the right-hand path early in the dungeon, close to Maur Grimtotem's corpse. He is level 16 in the Classic data.

Abilities (Classic data – Forever may differ)

  • Cleave – hits his target and the nearest player next to it.

Tactics: A simple tank-and-spank. Keep everyone except the tank out of his front arc so Cleave only hits one person. If a trogg comes with him, kill or crowd-control it first.

Item Type Stats
Barbaric Crossbow Ranged, Crossbow 25–39 damage, 2.00 speed (16.2 DPS). Chance on hit: wounds the target for 14 Physical damage.
Trogg Scepter Main Hand, Mace 20–39 damage, 2.40 speed (12.4 DPS). +4 Spirit.
Bone Knuckles Main Hand, Fist Weapon 17–32 damage, 2.00 speed (12.3 DPS). +6 Attack Power.

Taragaman the Hungerer

[edit | edit source]

A felguard standing on a platform in the middle of the central lava lake. He hits harder than anything else in the dungeon.

Abilities (Classic data – Forever may differ)

  • Fire Nova – fire damage to everyone close to him. Known for killing warlock imps that get too close.
  • Uppercut – a knockback that can throw the tank into other packs or into the lava.

Tactics: The tank should keep their back to a solid wall so the knockback doesn't send them flying, and should let the boss settle before re-positioning. Ranged damage dealers and the healer should stay out of melee range to avoid Fire Nova. Loot his heart for Slaying the Beast.

Item Type Stats Classic drop rate
Cursed Felblade Main Hand, Sword 19–37 damage, 2.30 speed (12.4 DPS). Chance on hit: reduces the target's attack power by 24 for 30 sec. 16%
Crystalline Cuffs Wrist, Cloth 15 Armor, +2 Intellect, +3 Spirit 30%
Subterranean Cape Back 17 Armor, +3 Strength, +5 Health per 5 sec 32%
Taragaman the Hungerer's Heart Quest item For Slaying the Beast —

Jergosh the Invoker

[edit | edit source]

The Searing Blade's warlock, standing in the middle of the final chamber. He is level 16 in the Classic data and is flanked by two cultists who join the fight as soon as he is pulled.

Abilities (Classic data – Forever may differ)

  • Curse of Weakness – lowers the attack power of the cursed player.
  • Immolate – a fire damage-over-time spell.

Tactics: Crowd-control one of the two adds (Polymorph works well) and kill the other before focusing Jergosh. Anyone who can remove curses should clear Curse of Weakness from the tank. Clear any guards in the approach first so they don't join in.

Item Type Stats Classic drop rate
Robe of Evocation Chest, Cloth 35 Armor, +4 Stamina, +4 Intellect, +5 Spirit 36%
Cavedweller Bracers Wrist, Mail 78 Armor, +2 Strength, +3 Stamina 33%
Chanting Blade One-Hand, Dagger 12–24 damage, 1.50 speed (12.3 DPS). +2 Agility, +2 Stamina. 16%

Bazzalan

[edit | edit source]

The satyr leader of the cult, found up the ramp on the right-hand side of the final chamber, above Jergosh. He is level 16 in the Classic data and is the last boss.

Abilities (Classic data – Forever may differ)

  • Sinister Strike – a heavy melee strike on the tank.
  • Deadly Poison – a stacking nature damage-over-time poison.

Tactics: Like Jergosh, he has two Searing Blade Cultists with him. The cultist on the left can usually be pulled on its own; crowd-control the one on the right and burn Bazzalan down fast, as his single-target damage is high. Anyone who can cure poison should keep Deadly Poison off the tank. Ideally assign curse removal and poison removal to different players across these last two fights.

Item Type Stats
Searing Dagger Main Hand, Dagger 13–26 damage, 1.60 speed (12.4 DPS). Equip: harmful spell casts sear the target for 3 Fire damage.
Chasm Walkers Feet, Leather 56 Armor, +5 Spirit, +7 Attack Power
Satyrskin Cloak Back 17 Armor, +3 Stamina, +3 Fire Resistance

Quests

[edit | edit source]

All six quests are Horde quests. Their givers are spread across Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff and the Undercity, so pick them up on the way rather than after arriving. All can be accepted from level 9.

Quest Level Given by Objective Rewards
Testing an Enemy's Strength 15 Rahauro, Elder Rise, Thunder Bluff (70.6, 29.6) Kill 8 Ragefire Troggs and 8 Ragefire Shaman, then return to Rahauro. ~3,200 XP, 7s, +100 Thunder Bluff
Searching for the Lost Satchel 16 Rahauro, Thunder Bluff Find Maur Grimtotem's corpse inside the chasm and search it. XP; leads to Returning the Lost Satchel
Returning the Lost Satchel 16 Maur Grimtotem's corpse (inside) Take the Grimtotem Satchel back to Rahauro. ~4,400 XP, +150 Thunder Bluff, and a choice of Featherbead Bracers, Savannah Bracers or Garrison Cuffs
Slaying the Beast 16 Neeru Fireblade, Cleft of Shadow, Orgrimmar (49.6, 50.6) Kill Taragaman the Hungerer and bring his heart to Neeru. ~3,500 XP, 8s
The Power to Destroy... 16 Varimathras, Royal Quarter, Undercity (56.6, 92.4) Bring back the books Spells of Shadow and Incantations from the Nether. ~4,400 XP, +150 Undercity, and a choice of Ghastly Trousers, Dredgemire Leggings or Gargoyle Leggings
Hidden Enemies 16 Thrall, Grommash Hold, Orgrimmar (31.7, 37.8) Kill Bazzalan and Jergosh the Invoker, then return to Thrall. ~3,500 XP, 8s, +100 Orgrimmar

XP figures are those seen in beta play, which are roughly three times the Classic values. The quest data stored in the beta client still lists lower figures (for example 1,050 XP for Testing an Enemy's Strength), so the final numbers may change.

The Lost Satchel

[edit | edit source]

Rahauro, Magatha Grimtotem's servant in Thunder Bluff, asks you to find Maur Grimtotem, a tauren who went into the chasm and never came back. His corpse lies past the first boss, on the right-hand turn off the main path, near Oggleflint. Searching it gives the Grimtotem Satchel, which starts the second quest.

The Hidden Enemies chain

[edit | edit source]
Classic data – Forever may differ.

Hidden Enemies is a multi-part chain from Thrall, and the Ragefire Chasm step is in the middle of it. It starts with Thrall asking for a Lieutenant's Insignia, which drops from the Burning Blade cultists in Skull Rock, the cave just east of Orgrimmar's main gate. You then take the insignia to Neeru Fireblade to see whether he takes you for a fellow cultist, and report back. Once Thrall sends you into the chasm to kill Bazzalan and Jergosh, a final step has you report what you learned. In Classic this last step offered a choice of Kris of Orgrimmar, Hammer of Orgrimmar, Axe of Orgrimmar or Staff of Orgrimmar; this reward has not yet been confirmed on the Forever beta.

Both books drop from the Searing Blade casters you kill on the way through, so you will almost always have them before the end of a full clear.

Walkthrough

[edit | edit source]
Classic data – Forever may differ.

The dungeon is a compact loop with no real dead ends. Every mob inside is elite, so pull carefully.

  1. Entrance tunnels – a few molten elementals, then the Ragefire troggs. Troggs and Ragefire Shaman count towards Testing an Enemy's Strength. Don't pull more than one pack at a time.
  2. Oggleflint and the satchel – take the right-hand path to find Oggleflint, and Maur Grimtotem's corpse nearby for the Lost Satchel quests.
  3. Searing Blade territory – more elementals, then groups of two or three Searing Blade cultists, warlocks and enforcers. Warlocks may bring voidwalkers. These packs drop the two books for The Power to Destroy...
  4. The lava lake – Taragaman the Hungerer waits on the central platform. Watch your footing; the lava does heavy fire damage quickly.
  5. The final chamber – Jergosh the Invoker is in the middle of the room, and Bazzalan is up the ramp above him. Pull them one at a time and don't drag extra packs in.

Denizens

[edit | edit source]
Classic data – Forever may differ.
  • Bosses: Oggleflint, Taragaman the Hungerer, Jergosh the Invoker, Bazzalan
  • Troggs: Ragefire Trogg, Ragefire Shaman
  • Searing Blade: Searing Blade Cultist, Searing Blade Enforcer, Searing Blade Warlock, Voidwalker Minion
  • Other creatures: Molten Elemental, Earthborer
  • NPCs: Maur Grimtotem (corpse)
  • Collect all six quests before going in. Two of them start in Thunder Bluff and one in the Undercity, so plan the route.
  • Bring a healer. If you die, the run back from the graveyard outside Orgrimmar is a long one.
  • Bring someone who can remove curses and someone who can cure poison for the last two bosses.
  • Mages' Polymorph is very useful on the boss adds for Jergosh and Bazzalan.
  • The weapons from Oggleflint and Bazzalan are new in Forever and are strong for their level. It can be worth a second run if your group missed them.
