Herbalism is a primary gathering profession in World of Warcraft: Forever. Herbalists pick herbs from nodes across the world.

Forever adds Herb Seeds that you can grow at a camp, Scarce botanicals, three new endgame herbs, a new Gardening crafting window, and the Incense Candle / Greenhouse / Seed Hybridizer camp line.

WoW: Forever is in beta. Everything on this page comes from Forever sources and the beta client, and may change before launch on 4 November 2026.

Getting started

  • Train at any Herbalism trainer, or pick the Herbalism manual as the reward from an early starter-zone quest (around level 3–4). The quest offers a choice of Herbalism, Mining or Skinning manuals.
  • Find Herbs shows nearby herbs on the minimap.

Training ranks

Rank Skill range Requirement
Apprentice 1–75 Character level 5
Journeyman 75–150 Herbalism 50, character level 10
Expert 150–225 Herbalism 125, character level 20
Artisan 225–300 Herbalism 200, character level 35

Beta testers report these rank requirements, but they can't yet be fully checked above the beta level cap.

New in Forever

Scarce botanicals

These drop alongside ordinary herbs. Testers have picked Frilled Lichen from Peacebloom and Earthroot in Dun Morogh, so they start at skill 1.

Material Used for
Frilled Lichen 2 per Cerulean Dye (Alchemy), 4 per Enchant Weapon - Insight
Rosecap 2 per Magenta Dye (Alchemy), 4 per Enchant Necklace - Healing Power
Stranglevine 2 per Viridian Dye (Alchemy), 4 per Enchant 2H Weapon - Mighty Healing Power

Herb Seeds

Herbs can drop Commonplace, Uncommon, Unusual and Scarce Herb Seeds. Seeds only do something at a camp:

  • Greenhouse – plant 1 seed to grow herbs over time.
  • Seed Hybridizer – put in 2 seeds of the same tier to multiply them or turn them into a rarer tier.

Which herbs drop each seed tier, and what each seed grows, isn't confirmed yet.

New endgame herbs

Marefoil, Demonsage and Death Lotus are item level 60 herbs used in new flasks, enchants and gear. Where they grow isn't known yet. One lead: the Enchanting formula Enchant Gloves - Lotus Claw (295) gives a small chance of Death Lotus from any herb gathered in Hyjal.

Gardening and teas

Gardening is a new crafting window. It makes the Herbalism camp objects, and new tea recipes come from recipe items that bind on pickup. Where those recipes drop isn't known yet.

Camping

Herbalists build camp objects that sit at a player's campfire. For how camps work, see Camping. Each craft makes 2 objects. Tier 2 and 3 need Blueprints and can be placed over an Incense Candle to replace it.

Tier Object Skill Effect Reagents Source
1 Incense Candle 20 You and others sitting nearby gain Intellect (25 at level 60). Does not stack with Arcane Intellect. Peacebloom, Silverleaf Trainer (Camping 101 quest)
2 Greenhouse 140 Grows herbs over time from planted seeds, plus all Incense Candle benefits. 2 Simple Wood, Arthas' Tears, Purple Lotus Blueprint: Greenhouse
3 Seed Hybridizer 300 Multiplies seeds or combines them into rarer tiers, plus all Incense Candle benefits. 4 Mountain Silversage, Crystal Vial, 2 Runecloth Blueprint: Seed Hybridizer

Legacy

Gathering professions earn no Legacy Points. These account-wide perks help Herbalism:

  • Bountiful Harvest (Professions, 5 ranks): 20–100% more Scarce materials (Frilled Lichen, Rosecap, Stranglevine). It doesn't add extra herbs.
  • Working Overtime (Professions): higher skill-up chance for any tradeskill.
  • Reagent Economy (Resourcefulness): the Incense Candle costs no reagents.

Pairing

Alchemy is the natural partner. Herbs also supply the First Aid Healing Potion line, and Scarce botanicals feed Enchanting and the dyes used across the crafting professions.
