Alchemy is a primary crafting profession in World of Warcraft: Forever. Alchemists brew elixirs, potions, flasks and other consumables used by every role: tanks, healers, melee, ranged and casters.
In Forever, the standard Healing Potion line belongs to First Aid. Alchemy instead makes Discolored Healing Potions, which restore health but add a negative side effect. Alchemy also gains a large set of new elixirs and potions, Merchant's Favor recipes, Craftsman's Writs, Legacy milestones and an account-wide title.
WoW: Forever is in beta. Everything on this page comes from Forever sources and the beta client, and may change before launch on 4 November 2026.
Why choose Alchemy?
[edit | edit source]- Consumables for every role – potions, elixirs and flasks help tanks, healers, melee, ranged and caster DPS alike.
- New recipe families – Mageblood, Cleric's, Mender's, Spellblasting and Frenzy lines scale from Minor up, plus new Artisan flasks.
- Gold making – margins per item tend to be small, so profit comes from volume and being active on the Auction House.
- Alchemist's Stone – in the beta data. It works in place of a Philosopher's Stone for transmutes and boosts healing and mana potions.
Alchemy has no specializations in the current Forever beta.

Recipes
[edit | edit source]Every Alchemy recipe in the beta client, with its reagents, skill colours, requirements and recipe item, is listed on Alchemy recipes. The list is built from the client's own recipe tables (build 1.60.1.70124).
| Rank | Recipes | New in Forever |
|---|---|---|
| Apprentice (1–75) | 21 | 12 |
| Journeyman (75–150) | 30 | 18 |
| Expert (150–225) | 40 | 13 |
| Artisan (225–300) | 91 | 30 |
| Total | 182 | 73 |
Counts are entries in the client's skill table, so they can differ slightly from the figures other sites quote.
New recipes in Forever
[edit | edit source]The beta client has 181 Alchemy recipes, 72 of them new. 29 of the new recipes are sold for Merchant's Favor. The tables below cover the new recipes recorded so far. The full list is on Alchemy recipes.
Skill values are from the beta client: Learn is the skill needed, followed by where the recipe turns Yellow / Green / Grey.
Apprentice (1–75)
[edit | edit source]Journeyman (75–150)
[edit | edit source]Expert (150–225)
[edit | edit source]Artisan (225–300)
[edit | edit source]New Alchemy materials in the beta data include Frilled Lichen, Pyrite, Rosecap, Stranglevine, Death Lotus, Demonsage and Marefoil.
Camping
[edit | edit source]Alchemists build camp objects that sit at a player's campfire. For how camps work (campfire tiers, the shared 1 hour cooldown, and who gets the buff), see Camping. Each craft makes 2 objects. Tier 2 and 3 can be placed over a Mana Well to replace it.
| Tier | Object | Skill | Effect | Reagents | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 20 | You and others sitting nearby regenerate mana every 5 sec. Does not stack with Blessing of Wisdom. | Peacebloom, Empty Vial | Trainer (Camping 101 quest) | |
| 2 | 140 | Lets players create certain reagents, plus all Mana Well benefits. | Leaded Vial, Kingsblood, Swiftthistle | Blueprint: Fermenter | |
| 3 | 300 | Usable for recipes that need an Alchemy Lab, plus all Mana Well benefits. | Lich's Index Finger, Crystal Vial, 2 Dreamfoil | Blueprint: Alchemy Laboratory |
Merchant's Favor, writs and title
[edit | edit source]- Merchant's Favor is earned by completing Waylaid Crates. 29 Alchemy recipes cost 45–240 Favor from Nina Surefire (Alliance, Azeroth Commerce Authority) or Apothecary Durelle (Horde, Durotar Supply and Logistics).
- Craftsman's Writs come from Sealed Writs that drop from enemies. Each asks for a specific item and rewards reputation with the Azeroth Commerce Authority or Durotar Supply and Logistics: 75 (Journeyman), 125 (Expert) or 200 (Artisan). Writs are tradable, so you don't have to craft the item yourself. 30 Alchemy items are wanted by writs, from Elixir of Ogre's Strength and Lesser Mana Potion up to Flask of Chromatic Resistance and Major Rejuvenation Potion.
- Alchemy Certification costs 1,000 Merchant's Favor at 300 skill. It unlocks "the Alchemist" title for the whole account, but only characters with 300 Alchemy can display it.
Leveling 1–300
[edit | edit source]This route is calculated from the beta client's recipe tables. It has 10 steps and needs about 889 materials, 98% of them herbs. Transmutes are left out because of their cooldowns. The only vendor trip is Darnassus (Alliance) or Undercity (Horde).
| Skill | Craft | Qty | Materials (each) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–69 | 71 | Silverleaf, Peacebloom, Empty Vial | |
| 69–96 | 32 | 2 Earthroot, Peacebloom, Empty Vial | |
| 96–120 | 24 | Mageroyal, 2 Briarthorn, Empty Vial | |
| 120–174 | 76 | Mageroyal, Stranglekelp, Empty Vial | |
| 174–200 | 30 | Fadeleaf, Wild Steelbloom, Leaded Vial | |
| 200–249 | 71 | Goldthorn, Fadeleaf, Leaded Vial | |
| 249–250 | 2 | Arthas' Tears, Crystal Vial | |
| 250–258 | 15 | Stonescale Eel, Leaded Vial | |
| 258–267 | 10 | 2 Gromsblood, Crystal Vial | |
| 267–300 | 47 | 2 Sungrass, 2 Blindweed, Crystal Vial |
Checkpoints: train Journeyman at 50, Expert at 125 and Artisan at 200. The Superior Mana Potion recipe is sold by Ulthir (Darnassus) or Algernon (Undercity).
Shopping list: 71 Silverleaf, 103 Peacebloom, 203 Empty Vial, 64 Earthroot, 100 Mageroyal, 48 Briarthorn, 76 Stranglekelp, 101 Fadeleaf, 30 Wild Steelbloom, 116 Leaded Vial, 71 Goldthorn, 2 Arthas' Tears, 59 Crystal Vial, 15 Stonescale Eel, 20 Gromsblood, 94 Sungrass, 94 Blindweed. Quantities are for the whole route, after subtracting what earlier steps make for later ones. You'll also need Recipe: Superior Mana Potion.
Legacy
[edit | edit source]Reaching 150, 225 and 300 Alchemy each awards 1 Legacy Point the first time. Useful account-wide perks (first-rank values):
- Working Overtime (Professions): 4% higher skill-up chance for any tradeskill (10% at rank 5).
- Dedicated Study (Professions): Raises your lowest primary or secondary tradeskill by 1. 25 sec cast, 23 hr cooldown.
- Performance Bonus (Professions): 5% chance for double Merchant's Favor when you turn in a crate.
- Reagent Economy (Resourcefulness): Tier 1 camp objects, including the Mana Well, cost no reagents.
Pairing and classes
[edit | edit source]- Herbalism is the natural partner, since almost every recipe needs herbs. With another source of herbs, such as an alt or the Auction House, Alchemy works with any primary profession.
- Every class benefits. Alchemy is less valuable for casual or non-raiding characters, because some of its standout recipes are hard to obtain.
