Tailoring is a primary crafting profession in World of Warcraft: Forever. Tailors turn cloth dropped by humanoids into cloth armor, bags, cloaks and shirts, so the profession needs no gathering skill.
Forever adds 180 new patterns, 55 of them at Artisan skill. It also adds the Faction Banner / Spinning Wheel / Loom camp line, Merchant's Favor patterns, Craftsman's Writs and Legacy milestones.
WoW: Forever is in beta. Everything on this page comes from Forever sources and the beta client, and may change before launch on 4 November 2026.
Use a Forever leveling route. Most patterns stop giving skill-ups about 35 points sooner in Forever, and 125 patterns can be learned earlier. The route on this page uses the beta client's own values.
Why choose Tailoring?
- No gathering needed – cloth drops from humanoids you kill while questing.
- Caster gear and bags – popular with Mages, Priests and Warlocks. New Artisan items include the Felblood Soul Bag.
- Party Spirit at camp – the Faction Banner gives Spirit to members of your faction sitting nearby.
- New materials – Cerulean Dye, Magenta Dye, Malleable Essence of Nature and Pristine Leather.

Recipes
Every Tailoring pattern in the beta client, with its reagents, skill colours, requirements and recipe item, is listed on Tailoring recipes. The list is built from the client's own recipe tables (build 1.60.1.70124).
| Rank | Patterns | New in Forever |
|---|---|---|
| Apprentice (1–75) | 53 | 24 |
| Journeyman (75–150) | 116 | 59 |
| Expert (150–225) | 119 | 46 |
| Artisan (225–300) | 133 | 56 |
| Total | 421 | 185 |
Counts are entries in the client's skill table, so they can differ slightly from the figures other sites quote.

The full list, including all 180 new patterns, is on Tailoring recipes. Some highlights:

Camping
Tailors build camp objects that sit at a player's campfire. For how camps work, see Camping. Each craft makes 2 objects. Tier 2 and 3 can be placed over a Faction Banner to replace it.
| Tier | Object | Skill | Effect | Reagents | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 20 | Members of your faction sitting nearby gain Spirit. Does not stack with Divine Spirit. | Bolt of Linen Cloth, Coarse Thread | Trainer (Camping 101 quest) | |
| 2 | 140 | Lets players create certain reagents, plus all Faction Banner benefits. | 2 Simple Wood, 5 Bolt of Silk Cloth, 3 Fine Thread | Blueprint: Spinning Wheel | |
| 3 | 300 | Usable for recipes that need it, plus all Faction Banner benefits. | Bottled Screams, 4 Bolt of Runecloth, 4 Simple Wood | Blueprint: Loom |
Merchant's Favor, writs and title
- Merchant's Favor from Waylaid Crates buys Tailoring patterns at the Azeroth Commerce Authority (Alliance) and Durotar Supply and Logistics (Horde).
- Craftsman's Writs ask for Tailoring items and reward reputation with those factions: 75 (Journeyman), 125 (Expert) or 200 (Artisan).
- A profession Certification and title for 1,000 Merchant's Favor at 300 skill is expected on the same pattern as the other crafting professions. Not yet confirmed for Tailoring.
Leveling 1–300
This route is calculated from the beta client's recipe tables. It has 17 steps and needs about 3,442 materials to reach 272. Beyond 272, the trainer and vendor patterns stop giving reliable skill-ups, so the last stretch needs drop patterns. The only vendor trip is Moonglade.
Checkpoints: train Journeyman at 50, Expert at 125 and Artisan at 200.
Shopping list: 118 Linen Cloth, 12 Coarse Thread, 111 Wool Cloth, 131 Fine Thread, 792 Silk Cloth, 70 Red Dye, 34 Blue Dye, 10 Bleach, 830 Mageweave Cloth, 7 Elemental Earth, 101 Silken Thread, 1,260 Runecloth, 66 Rune Thread, 108 Ironweb Spider Silk, 216 Rugged Leather. Quantities are for the whole route, after subtracting what earlier steps make for later ones. You'll also need Pattern: Runecloth Boots (binds on pickup).
Finishing 272–300
These are the patterns in the beta client that still give skill-ups past 272 (grey at 300 or later). Nearly all of them need a pattern item; where those drop or are sold hasn't been mapped yet.
Legacy
Reaching 150, 225 and 300 Tailoring each awards 1 Legacy Point the first time. Useful perks: Working Overtime, Dedicated Study, Performance Bonus and Reagent Economy (the Faction Banner costs no reagents).
Pairing
Enchanting is the usual partner: it disenchants the green gear you make on the way up. Neither profession needs gathering.
