Mining is a primary gathering profession in World of Warcraft: Forever. Miners gather ore, stone and gems from mineral veins and smelt ore into bars at a forge. You need a Mining Pick in your bags.

Forever adds new Scarce minerals, two new endgame bars, and the Lodestone / Rock Garden / Molten Foundry camp line.

WoW: Forever is in beta. Everything on this page comes from Forever sources and the beta client, and may change before launch on 4 November 2026.

Getting started

[edit | edit source]
  • Train at any Mining trainer, or pick Mining for Dummies as the reward from an early starter-zone quest (around level 3–4). The quest offers a choice of Herbalism, Mining or Skinning manuals. The manual teaches Mining if you know fewer than two professions and adds 2 skill, up to 15.
  • Rockslicer, the axe Rhahk'Zor drops in the Deadmines, can open Copper, Tin, Silver and Iron veins without Mining.
  • Find Minerals shows nearby veins on the minimap.

Training ranks

[edit | edit source]
Rank Skill range Requirement
Apprentice 1–75 Character level 5
Journeyman 75–150 Mining 50, character level 10
Expert 150–225 Mining 125, character level 20
Artisan 225–300 Mining 200, character level 35

Beta testers report these rank requirements, but they can't yet be fully checked above the beta level cap.

New in Forever

[edit | edit source]

Scarce minerals

[edit | edit source]

Pyrite, Bauxite and Pitchblende are new minerals marked Scarce that can come from mining nodes. Pyrite goes into 11 recipes, including Sulfuric Acid (Alchemy) and several new cloth and staff items. Where exactly the Scarce minerals and Heavy Thorium Ore spawn isn't confirmed yet.

New smelting

[edit | edit source]
Bar Skill Materials Notes
Azerothium Bar 275 2 Pitchblende, Coal Used in new endgame Blacksmithing and Engineering recipes
Heavy Thorium Bar 300 Heavy Thorium Ore Can only be smelted at a Molten Foundry

Together, the two bars go into 39 new Blacksmithing plans and 7 Engineering schematics.

Smelting by skill

[edit | edit source]

"Learn" is the skill at which the trainer teaches the smelt, as reported by Forever guides. Yellow, Green and Grey are from the beta client (build 1.60.1.70124).

Bar Learn Yellow / Green / Grey Materials Needs
Copper Bar 1 25 / 48 / 70 Copper Ore Forge
Tin Bar 65 50 / 63 / 75 Tin Ore Forge

Silver Bar 75 100 / 113 / 125 Silver Ore Forge

Every smelt gives skill-ups until it turns grey, so smelting your ore as you go is free progress.

Camping

[edit | edit source]

Miners build camp objects that sit at a player's campfire. For how camps work, see Camping. Each craft makes 2 objects. Tier 2 and 3 need Blueprints and can be placed over a Lodestone to replace it.

Tier Object Skill Effect Reagents Source
1 Lodestone 20 You and others sitting nearby gain melee Attack Power (90 at level 60). Does not stack with Blessing of Might. Rough Stone, Copper Bar Trainer (Camping 101 quest)
2 Rock Garden 140 Spawns a common mining node over time, plus all Lodestone benefits. 2 Heavy Stone, Iron Ore, Silver Bar Blueprint: Rock Garden
3 Molten Foundry 300 Usable for recipes that need it (including Heavy Thorium smelting), plus all Lodestone benefits. 5 Thorium Bar, 2 Dense Stone, Truesilver Bar Blueprint: Molten Foundry

Waylaid Crates

[edit | edit source]

Ore and bars fill Waylaid Crates, which you hand in sealed for Merchant's Favor at the Azeroth Commerce Authority (Alliance) or Durotar Supply and Logistics (Horde).

Legacy

[edit | edit source]

Gathering professions earn no Legacy Points. These account-wide perks help Mining:

  • Bountiful Harvest (Professions, 5 ranks): 20 / 40 / 60 / 80 / 100% more Scarce materials from Mining, Herbalism and Skinning.
  • Working Overtime (Professions): higher skill-up chance for any tradeskill.
  • Reagent Economy (Resourcefulness): the Lodestone costs no reagents.

Pairing

[edit | edit source]

Mining supplies Blacksmithing and Engineering. Gold, Mithril, Thorium, Truesilver and gems also sell well to other crafters.
