Blacksmithing is a primary crafting profession in World of Warcraft: Forever. Blacksmiths turn metal bars, stone and other reagents into weapons, mail and plate armor, weapon enhancements and metal tools.

Forever adds nearly 200 new plans, most of them mail and plate sets in role-based variants. It also adds the Sharpening Wheel / Anvil / Master Forge camp line, Merchant's Favor plans, Craftsman's Writs, Legacy milestones and an account-wide title.

WoW: Forever is in beta. Everything on this page comes from Forever sources and the beta client, and may change before launch on 4 November 2026.

Use a Forever leveling route. Most plans stop giving skill-ups about 25 points sooner in Forever, so an older route will have you crafting grey plans. The route on this page uses the beta client's own values.

Why choose Blacksmithing?

Specializations

[edit | edit source]

The Forever client still contains the Armorsmith and Weaponsmith specializations, with Weaponsmiths able to go further into Axesmith, Hammersmith or Swordsmith. Their requirements in Forever haven't been confirmed yet. Neither specialization is needed to reach 300: the leveling route below uses no specialization plans.

Recipes

[edit | edit source]

Every Blacksmithing plan in the beta client, with its reagents, skill colours, requirements and recipe item, is listed on Blacksmithing recipes. The list is built from the client's own recipe tables (build 1.60.1.70124).

Rank Plans New in Forever
Apprentice (1–75) 43 23
Journeyman (75–150) 103 52
Expert (150–225) 98 46
Artisan (225–300) 196 79
Total 440 200

Counts are entries in the client's skill table, so they can differ slightly from the figures other sites quote.

New plans in Forever

[edit | edit source]

The beta client has 441 Blacksmithing plans, 197 of them new, with 79 of the new ones at Artisan skill (225–300). 61 plans are sold for Merchant's Favor. 30 Blacksmithing items are wanted by Craftsman's Writs. 75 new plans still have no known source. The full plan list will come later through the item pipeline.

New materials in these plans include Pristine Leather, Azerothium Bar, Heavy Thorium Bar, Legionite Bar, Torbernite, Sulfuric Acid and Malleable Essence of Nature. Mining makes Azerothium Bar at 275 and Heavy Thorium Bar at 300. Where the others come from isn't known yet.

Blizzard's Deep Dive panel showed three plans in full. The beta client has all three with the same skill and materials, and the Commerce Authority sells them for 30, 60 and 120 Merchant's Favor.

Camping

[edit | edit source]

Blacksmiths build camp objects that sit at a player's campfire. For how camps work (campfire tiers, the shared 1 hour cooldown, and who gets the buff), see Camping. Each craft makes 2 objects. The Anvil and Master Forge can be placed over a Sharpening Wheel to replace it.

Tier Object Skill Effect Reagents Source
1 Sharpening Wheel 20 You and others sitting nearby gain Strength (34 at level 60). Does not stack with Strength of Earth Totem. Rough Stone, Copper Bar Trainer (Camping 101 quest)
2 Anvil 140 A usable anvil, plus all Sharpening Wheel benefits. 5 Bronze Bar, 2 Coarse Grinding Stone, 2 Medium Leather Blueprint: Anvil
3 Master Forge 300 Usable for recipes that need a forge, plus all Sharpening Wheel benefits. Golem Heart, 5 Thorium Bar, 2 Rugged Leather Blueprint: Master Forge

Merchant's Favor, writs and title

[edit | edit source]
  • Merchant's Favor is earned by completing Waylaid Crates. Stondry Darkhammer (Alliance, Azeroth Commerce Authority, Three Corners, Redridge Mountains, 10.2, 74.2) and Gor'mak (Horde, Durotar Supply and Logistics camp outside the Crossroads, The Barrens, 49.8, 29.6) sell 61 plans for 30–120 Favor. The plans need no reputation but bind on pickup, so you have to buy them yourself.
  • Craftsman's Writs come from Sealed Writs that drop from enemies. Each asks for a specific item and rewards reputation with the Azeroth Commerce Authority or Durotar Supply and Logistics: 75 (Journeyman), 125 (Expert) or 200 (Artisan). Writs are tradable. Blacksmithing writs range from Pearl-Handled Dagger and Rough Bronze Leggings up to Huge Thorium Battleaxe, Arcanite Skeleton Key and Ebon Shiv.
  • Blacksmithing Certification costs 1,000 Merchant's Favor at 300 skill. It unlocks "the Blacksmith" title for the whole account, but only characters with 300 Blacksmithing can display it.

Legacy

[edit | edit source]

Reaching 150 (Journeyman Blacksmith), 225 (Expert Blacksmith) and 300 (Artisan Blacksmith) each awards 1 Legacy Point the first time. Useful account-wide perks (first-rank values):

  • Working Overtime (Professions): 4% higher skill-up chance for any tradeskill (10% at rank 5).
  • Dedicated Study (Professions): Raises your lowest primary or secondary tradeskill by 1. 25 sec cast, 23 hr cooldown.
  • Performance Bonus (Professions): 5% chance for double Merchant's Favor when you turn in a crate.
  • Reagent Economy (Resourcefulness): Tier 1 camp objects, including the Sharpening Wheel, cost no reagents.

Pairing and classes

[edit | edit source]
  • Mining is the natural partner, since most plans need bars and stone. With another source of ore, Blacksmithing works with any primary profession.
  • Warriors and Paladins benefit most, from the plate armor, shields and melee weapons.
