Cooking is one of the three secondary professions in World of Warcraft: Forever, alongside First Aid and Fishing. Cooks turn meat, fish and other ingredients into food and drink that restore health or mana and give Well Fed buffs.

Cooking also builds the campfire that every campsite starts from, so it sits at the centre of the new Camping system.

WoW: Forever is in beta. Everything on this page comes from Forever sources and the beta client, and may change before launch on 4 November 2026.

Why level Cooking?

[edit | edit source]
  • Faster leveling – eat seated for at least 10 seconds to become Well Fed for 15 minutes. Forever food adds 5% more experience from kills on top of its stat bonus.
  • One stat per food – most foods give a single stat, from +1 at level 1 up to +20 at level 45. Smoothies give Spirit, herbal teas give Healing Power, and fish dishes give Attack Power, Spell Damage or Fishing skill.
  • Raid feasts – one feast covers a whole raid for 45 minutes.
  • Camps – every campsite needs a Cooking campfire.

Camping

[edit | edit source]

Cooking makes the campfires every camp starts from. You and others must sit or craft nearby for 1 minute to get the other camp objects' benefits. All camping features share a 1 hour cooldown. You can place only one object yourself, so fill the other slots with friends.

Tier Object Skill Effect Reagents Source
1 Basic Campfire 1 Allows cooking, with room for 3 more camp objects. 5 min cooldown. Simple Wood Trainer (Camping 101 quest)
2 Journeyman Campfire 90–140* Allows cooking, with room for 5 more camp objects. Star Wood Blueprint: Journeyman Campfire
2 Cookie's Feast 140 Lays out Stamina-boosting food. Needs a Cooking Fire nearby. 2 Mystery Meat, Heavy Kodo Meat, Soothing Spices Blueprint: Cookie's Feast
3 Expert Campfire 200–220* Allows cooking, with room for 10 more camp objects. Thick Logs Blueprint: Expert Campfire
4 Iron Oven 300 Needed for the most advanced Cooking recipes. Needs a Cooking Fire nearby. 10 Simple Flour, 5 Refreshing Spring Water, 4 Soothing Spices Blueprint: Baker's Oven

* Sources disagree on these skill levels (Journeyman Campfire 90 or 140, Expert Campfire 200 or 220). They'll be checked in game.

Leveling 1–300

[edit | edit source]

This route is calculated from the beta client's recipe tables (build 1.60.1.70124) using recipes from trainers and vendors. It hasn't been play-tested, and luck can add a few extra crafts. About 309 crafts in total. Any other recipe that is still yellow or orange at your skill works just as well, so cook whatever meat and fish you already have: see Cooking recipes for every option.

Skill Craft Qty Materials (each)
1–45 Charred Wolf Meat 45 Stringy Wolf Meat
45–80 Smoked Bear Meat 36 Bear Meat
80–125 Dry Pork Ribs 46 Boar Ribs, Mild Spices
125–175 Goblin Deviled Clams 52 Tangy Clam Meat, Hot Spices
175–200 Barbecued Buzzard Wing 26 Buzzard Wing, Hot Spices
200–225 Spider Sausage 26 2 White Spider Meat
225–265 Monster Omelet 41 Giant Egg, 2 Soothing Spices
265–300 Nightfin Soup 37 Raw Nightfin Snapper, Refreshing Spring Water

Checkpoints: train Journeyman at 50. Stop at 150 until you've used the Expert Cookbook (usable from 125). Stop at 225 until you've completed Clamlette Surprise (character level 35).

Shopping list: 45 Stringy Wolf Meat, 36 Bear Meat, 46 Boar Ribs, 46 Mild Spices, 52 Tangy Clam Meat, 78 Hot Spices, 26 Buzzard Wing, 52 White Spider Meat, 41 Giant Egg, 82 Soothing Spices, 37 Raw Nightfin Snapper, 37 Refreshing Spring Water. Quantities are for the whole route, after subtracting what earlier steps make for later ones. You'll also need Recipe: Smoked Bear Meat, Recipe: Barbecued Buzzard Wing (binds on pickup), Recipe: Monster Omelet, Recipe: Nightfin Soup.

Legacy

[edit | edit source]

Secondary professions earn no Legacy Points. These account-wide perks help Cooking:

  • Master Chef (Professions, 5 ranks): 10–50% chance for cooking recipes to make an extra result.
  • Gourmand (Resourcefulness, 3 ranks): food buffs last 33–100% longer.
  • Working Overtime and Dedicated Study (Professions): faster skill-ups.
  • Permanence (Resourcefulness): benefits from resting at a camp last 50% longer.

Pairing

[edit | edit source]

Fishing supplies most of the Cooking route, but meat, eggs and vendor ingredients work too, so it isn't required.
