Zul'Farrak is the Sandfury trolls' sun-baked city in Tanaris, ruled by Chief Ukorz Sandscalp.

It is a large, open-air troll city of sandstone temples and pyramids, best known for the "pyramid event", a huge fight on the temple steps against waves of trolls. Both factions run it. Its level range is above what the Forever beta had opened at the time of writing, so this page is mostly based on Classic data.

Very little Forever-specific data exists for this dungeon yet. Content marked as Classic data may change before launch on 4 November 2026.

History

Lore from Classic – Forever may differ.

Zul'Farrak is the capital of the Sandfury trolls, a desert tribe that has survived in the wastes of Tanaris. The Sandfury are known for their cruelty and their dark magic. Their witch doctors are said to be able to raise the dead, and in the sacred pool at the heart of the city lurks Gahz'rilla, a monstrous hydra the trolls revere. Chief Ukorz Sandscalp rules the city, and its temples are full of prisoners taken from the goblins of Gadgetzan and elsewhere.

Getting there

The city is in the far north-west of Tanaris, a short trip from Gadgetzan across the desert. The nearest flight path is Gadgetzan.

Bosses

Classic data – Forever may differ.
  • Antu'sul – a troll overseer in a basilisk-filled canyon, who summons basilisks and uses Healing Ward and Earthgrab totems.
  • Theka the Martyr – a troll who transforms into a giant scarab.
  • Witch Doctor Zum'rah – in the graveyard. He raises zombies from the graves and uses Shadow Bolt Volley. The Zul'Farrak zombies come up from the graves around him.
  • Hydromancer Velratha – at the sacred pool.
  • Gahz'rilla – the great hydra of the sacred pool, summoned by striking the gong with the Mallet of Zul'Farrak. The mallet is made at the Altar of Zul in the Hinterlands from the Sacred Mallet.
  • Nekrum Gutchewer and Shadowpriest Sezz'ziz – fought at the top of the pyramid, the final part of the pyramid event.
  • Sergeant Bly – a goblin prisoner in a cage on the pyramid. He and his crew fight alongside you during the pyramid event and then turn on the group once it's over.
  • Ruuzlu – guards the way to Chief Ukorz.
  • Chief Ukorz Sandscalp – the ruler of Zul'Farrak.
  • Rares: Zerillis, Dustwraith, Sandarr Dunereaver.

Zul'Farrak's full loot tables are listed on wowtbc.gg. None of it had been confirmed on the Forever beta at the time of writing.

The pyramid event

Classic data – Forever may differ.

On top of the great pyramid, Sergeant Bly and his goblin crew are held in cages. Freeing Weegli Blastfuse sends him to blow open the city's inner door, and releasing the prisoners triggers a massive assault: waves of Sandfury trolls charge up the pyramid steps, followed by Nekrum Gutchewer and Shadowpriest Sezz'ziz. Once the trolls are defeated, Bly and his crew turn on the group. Hold the top of the stairs so the trolls come to you a few at a time, and let the area-damage classes go to work.

  • Save cooldowns and potions for the pyramid event, and don't let the group get pulled down the stairs.
  • Zum'rah's graves keep producing zombies. Kill him quickly, or pull him away from the graveyard.
