Maraudon is a network of sacred centaur caverns in Desolace, corrupted by the earth elemental Princess Theradras.

It is a huge cave system in three parts. There are two outer wings, known by the colour of their crystals as the orange and purple sides, and a vast inner cavern of waterfalls and giant plants. Both factions run it. Its level range is above what the Forever beta had opened at the time of writing, so this page is mostly based on Classic data.

Very little Forever-specific data exists for this dungeon yet. Content marked as Classic data may change before launch on 4 November 2026.

History

Lore from Classic – Forever may differ.

Maraudon is sacred to the centaur. Zaetar, a son of Cenarius, fell in love with Theradras, the princess of the elemental earth, and their union produced the centaur race. The centaur, a wild and brutal people, murdered their father, but Theradras kept his spirit trapped in the caves of Maraudon. The earth princess still dwells in the depths, and her corruption has spread through the caverns, twisting the plants and creatures inside. The centaur clans hold the caves sacred, and they send their dead there.

Getting there

The entrance is in western Desolace, in the Valley of Spears, reached through the centaur-held ravines. The outer wings open off the main cave. To reach the inner cavern, groups either fight through one of the outer wings or use the Scepter of Celebras portal.

Purple side (Foulspore Cavern)

• Noxxion – a toxic elemental who splits into smaller slimes.
• Razorlash – a thorny plant creature.

Orange side (Wicked Grotto)

• Lord Vyletongue – a satyr lord.
• Celebras the Cursed – the cursed son of Zaetar. His redeemed spirit is part of the Legends of Maraudon quest, which gives the Scepter of Celebras.

Inner Maraudon (Earth Song Falls)

• Meshlok the Harvester – a rare.
• Landslide – a giant earth elemental.
• Tinkerer Gizlock – a goblin engineer.
• Rotgrip – a giant crocolisk in the waters.
• Princess Theradras – the earth princess herself, the final boss.

Legends of Maraudon	Both	Collect the two halves of Celebras's scepter and help Celebras the Redeemed recreate it. Rewards the Scepter of Celebras, which opens a shortcut portal to the inner cavern.
Corruption of Earth and Seed	Both	Kill Princess Theradras for Keeper Marandis or Selendra.
The Pariah's Instructions	Both	Collect the two halves of the Amulet of Union for the Centaur Pariah.
Twisted Evils	Alliance	Collect Theradric Crystal Carvings for Willow at Nijel's Point.
Vyletongue Corruption	Both	Fill a Coated Cerulean Vial at the orange-side pool.
Shadowshard Fragments	Both	Collect Shadowshard Fragments from the purple-side elementals.

Tips

• Get the Scepter of Celebras once. It lets you skip straight to the inner cavern on later runs.
• The inner cavern is huge. Stay together and watch for patrols of giants and elementals.
• Poison and disease cures help on the purple side.
