Shadowfang Keep is Archmage Arugal's cursed castle in Silverpine Forest, overrun by the worgen he summoned.

It is a Horde-leaning dungeon in the Forsaken lands south of the Sepulcher, but both factions run it, and each has its own prisoner to rescue inside. There are eight bosses plus two rares. You'll need curse and poison removal and good interrupts throughout.

Information on this page comes from the Forever beta (client builds 1.60.1.69913 to 1.60.1.70009, September 2026). Stats, drops and quest rewards can still change before launch on 4 November 2026.

History

[edit | edit source]
Lore from Classic – Forever may differ.

Shadowfang Keep was the home of Baron Silverlaine, a noble of Gilneas. During the Third War, the Kirin Tor archmage Arugal summoned worgen into the world to help fight the Scourge. The worgen proved impossible to control and turned on everyone around them, including Silverlaine's household. Driven mad by guilt, Arugal took the worgen as his "children", seized the keep, and now rules it from its highest tower. From there his worgen spread through Silverpine, threatening the Forsaken at the Sepulcher.

The Forsaken have sent Deathstalkers into the keep to scout it, and some have been taken prisoner. The Alliance has its own captive there, the mage Sorcerer Ashcrombe.

Getting there

[edit | edit source]

The keep stands on a hill in southern Silverpine Forest, at roughly 44.7, 67.8 on the Silverpine map, above Pyrewood Village. The nearest flight path for the Horde is the Sepulcher. Alliance players have a long run through Horde territory, coming in from the south via Hillsbrad or from the north.
