Overview
[edit | edit source]Humans are the youngest major race on Azeroth, but their ambition, adaptability, and organizational strength have made them the de facto leaders of the Alliance. Descended from the vrykul of Northrend (whose "deformed" offspring were exiled to Tirisfal Glades due to the Curse of Flesh), humans rose from scattered nomadic tribes into the unified Empire of Arathor under Warlord Thoradin. Arathor later split into seven kingdoms — Stormwind, Lordaeron, Dalaran, Kul Tiras, Gilneas, Stromgarde, and Alterac — whose fates have shaped Azeroth's history ever since.
Humans have endured repeated catastrophes: the First War's destruction of Stormwind, the founding of the Alliance of Lordaeron, the Scourge's devastation of Lordaeron during the Third War (and the fall of Prince Arthas to the Lich King), and later crises through the Cataclysm, the Burning Legion invasions, and the Fourth War. Despite these losses, Stormwind has emerged as the current seat of human and Alliance power, led by High King Anduin Wrynn.
Human society blends city-dwelling nobility, merchants, and craftspeople with a strong martial and religious tradition — most worship the Holy Light through the Church of the Holy Light and its paladin order, the Silver Hand. Humans also show notable aptitude for both arcane and holy magic.
